Sew Stripes Month Instagram Round-Up: Feb 1 – 10

Hello Sewcialists! Are you ready for some #sewstripes inspiration? Becky here, of @sewbeckyjo, with your first Stripes Month Challenge round-up, and we ALL love round-ups, amirite? It’s like a fashion inspiration magazine of all your virtual sewing BFFs in one place. LOVE IT.

Copy of february (6)

As usual: if we missed you, it may be because your Instagram profile is private, it wasn’t clearly marked as a new make for #sewstripes, or maybe Becky didn’t have enough coffee. If you feel your make was missed for February 1-10, please feel free to leave it in the comments.

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE the mixing of stripes and florals like this Cleo dress:

Ruth has a fun directional mix-up dress that really works.

Love Dana’s style! For instant office attire, add amazing moto-jacket:

Color-blocking is always a win.

My 2nd #2018makenine of the year and got to say i LOVE it !! Its the 1st @tillybuttons #sewingcoco I've made (i know im very late to the party) and did a bit of scrap busting & used the last of the beautiful mustard loopback jersey i got from @guthrieghani at sew Brum to do the contrasting yoke using Tillys tutorial. And of course my 1st coco had to have stripes so perfect for the @sewcialists month of stripes #SewStripes , who doesnt love stripes 🤗 Although im about to sack my photographer mind, hes rubbish & i always end up squashed in the bottom of the screen 😆😆😆 hence the last photo of his sarcastic response 😂😒 but we got there in the end after about 30 photos 😜. I even ventured outside but the sun was dazzling (thats a good think though 🌞🌞🌞) #sewing #sewersofinstagram #sundaysewing #isew #dressmaking #memade #makenine2018 #makenine

Jennifer looks amazing at 38 weeks!

Effortless chic:

After having the Megan Nielsen Dove pattern in my stash for a long time, I FINALLY made it. And of course, I couldn't make just as is. So I made a dress of it! Will do another blog post on the dress, but here is already a picture of me on my very cold balcony just for you. ❄️🌂 Also, it fits the @sewcialists theme of this month: stripes! #mndove #sewstripes #thefinalstitch #makersgonnamake #diywardrobe #memade #memadeeveryday #diy #diyfashion #sewcialists #makersgonnamake #ilovesewing #makeitsewcial #sewist #millennialsewing #sewing #isew #instasew #sewersofinstagram #sewistsofinstagram #sewamsterdam #sewingamsterdam #sewnetherlands #sewholland #handmadewardrobe #fashion #couture #fabric #jecouds #sewingblogger #handmade

Love the attention to detail!

Tilly and the Buttons patterns are really popular for this challenge.

Started and finished my first knit project in class on Saturday @theclothpocketstudio with @the_fabricker . Really love how it came together and I even got to wear it out for a date that same night for dinner and beer flights @hopfields and – Best day, pretty much! . . ❤️➖❤️➖❤️➖❤️➖❤️➖❤️➖❤️➖❤️➖❤️ . Skills learned: – sewing knits – stripe matching – installing a cowl collar – using a serger for everything but hems (hems wonky, will probably shorten hem & sleeves to redo) . 📷 by @johnnyfeds Pattern: #cocodress #tillyandthebuttons with collar Fabric: Breton Stripe Ponte Knit in Ecru/Black by #saintjamesstripes #telio from #stonemountainfabric Class: #theclothpocket This is also my 3rd #2018makenine so far! #sewstripes #sewcialists #handmadefashion #handmadewardrobe #sewingcoco #bretonstripes #saintjames #memade #memadeeveryday #isew #diysewing #diyfashion #austintxsewing #austinsews

Really skinny stripes can read as a solid from a distance, making for a nice subtle detail.

Jasper dresses are the ultimate secret pajamas.

The shirts category is by far the most popular for the Stripes Challenge!

Love this color-blocked tween option.

This yellow makes my day so happy!

I almost didn’t even notice this is a sheer stripe! So very creative.

For those red carpet dreams….

Plaid: the next level in stripe matching!

I love “me and mini me” makes!

Ah, the age old question is solved: Polka dots AND stripes! Why choose?

This is amazing. They’re both entirely different striped patterns, but they go really well together. And now I want some strawberry jam…

These boatneck tees are making me swoon. Such a great option for transitional seasons.

More sunshine:

Guys! I lost my #sewjo This past week has just been bizarro. I sat down Friday night to sew this #ballardtop by @straightstitchdesigns for the #sewstripes challenge by @sewcialists and it got me in all kinds of knots. At least my stripes match right? Check out my latest #sewing debacle over on the blog. * * * #handmaderevolution #makeyourown #indiepattern #pdfpattern #sewyourownclothes #slowfashion #imakeclothes #isew #makersgonnamake #ilovesewing #seamstressofinstagram #sewcialists #sewcialistsofinstagram #sewingindenver #imakefashion #alwaysmaking #makersgonnamake #imakefashion #handmadewardrobe #handmadefashion #denversews #sewist #maker #sewerofinstagram #patternreview

This Burda top with the great design lines is so cool, and makes yoga in January more comfortable.

This koi in stripes fabric is really fun:

Stripes for the littles are always a huge hit!

Check out that disappearing pocket!

Stripes as chevrons AND as texture:

Starting off the pants section with immediate cuddle feels:

I now must go listen to Dexys Midnight Runners…these make me want to dance…

Stretchy stripes!

I had a black and white chevron skirt from the chevron fabric trend, but Laura makes it a sustainable classic in this make.

Actual sunshine and a twirl!

Coats, Cardigans, Coatigans, and Such

Not too many in this category so I combined a few…kicking off with a vibrant lining by Jenn.

Sarah’s make reminds me of the 3-chord pop song: sure, it’s a simple make, but not simple to make extraordinary. Sarah definitely succeeds.

Comfy robes are always a necessity.

Is it a dress? A robe? A duster cardigan? Or a coat? However it is worn, I love every bit of this garment. My version of the Johanna Ortiz Mompox jacket in large scale rayon wool plaid from @joelandsonfabrics. I had some doubt whether I can pull off this print and the design on my small frame but am I glad I took the risk! This garment is one of my favorite makes so far and I could not be happier. This is my contribution to @sewcialists #SewStripes month. Investing 30 minutes to make the muslin was an invaluable step for this project because it saved me the trouble of fitting it to my figure after it was sewn. Lesson well learned; I will be making more muslin from here on. Bodice made using @mccallpatterncompany #m7698. Collar Mccalls #m6659. Skirt flounce Butterick #b5985. Lower sleeves Mccalls #m7436. The garment needs to hang for a few days to settle and will be hemmed thereafter. Off to mske a matching obi belt in the interim. My hoodie-lovin’ heart sores:

The texture of this vest/cardigan/vestigan is delicious.

The feet always deserve some love, and I’m a huge fan of slippers-as-scrap-busters.

Kimberly is giving me some serious beach jonesing!

Can you believe the participation in just the first week of Sew Stripes? What an amazing community we have! Are you inspired to join the February Sew Stripes Challenge?

    1. I almost split the kids stuff into a different category but I kept the Cute Factor sprinkled throughout! 😀 I love them all. The tiny newborn pants make me audibly “aaawwww” every time.
